Installing Openview on AIXDocument Actions last edited 1 week ago by mrsys Instructions for installing Openview on AIX Installation Checklist 100MB in /usr (AIX), note that it will NOT auto-expand the filesystem with the install, you will have to do it before. 200MB in /temp for the install /var filesystem needs to be at least 500MB but 1000MB would be ideal. If /var cannot be expanded you will not be able to install the MWA agent, but the CODA agent should still provide the necessary graphs. The bos.perf.perfstat and the bos.perf.libperfstat filesets need to be installed. Log on to the host that you are intending to install OpenView? on. $ scp nimserver:/depot/Software/UNIX/aix/openview/latest . latest 100% |*****************************| 134 MB 00:55 Even thought the file is called latest, it is actually a tar-ball of the install. After uncompressing the file, look for the actual directory of the install $ tar xf latest $ ls ld aix_ov* drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 512 Jul 26 14:16 aix_ov_A.07.25 Start a script dump so to record the install in case there are issues; # script a /tmp/`hostname`_openview.txt Type df k, and make sure that there is at least 200MB available in /tmp to untar the file. 6. Change to the root user # sudo su 7. Change your directory to /tmp/aix_ov_(version) # cd /tmp/aix_ov_(version).tar # ls README.txt dce.client install.txt opc_inst perf_pkg.Z tardce comm_pkg.Z install.mwa install_ov opc_pkg.Z readme.mwa tarfile 8. Check to see if Openview is already installed and running. # ps ef |grep opc root 733422 1 0 Apr 15 - 1:56 opcctla -start root 737292 733422 0 Apr 15 - 16:57 opcmona root 749784 733422 0 Apr 15 - 0:01 opcmsgi root 778466 733422 0 Apr 15 - 3:11 opcacta root 782546 733422 0 Apr 15 - 5:34 opcmsga root 802978 733422 0 Apr 15 - 6:21 opcle 9. Change into the /tmp/aix_ov_(version)/dce directory and install DCE. # cd /tmp/aix_ov_(version)/dce # /usr/sbin/installp -ac -I -X -d dce.client all 11. If the DCE.client successfully installed (ie, did not say Already Installed) activate the DCE client. If DCE was already installed skip to step 15. # mkdce o local n ito rpc Configuring DCE for OVO agent ...Executing : mkdce -o local -n ito rpc Complete 12. Add the dce client to the /etc/inittab file by running the mkitab command(this command will NOT add the dce startup if it is already in the file). # /usr/sbin/mkitab "rdce:2:wait:sh /etc/rc.dce > /dev/console 2>&1 # start DCE" 13. Install the latest DCE fix from the /tmp/aix_ov/dce/dcefix directory. # cd dcefix # pwd /tmp/aix_ov_(version)/dce/dcefix # installp ac d ./ -g N X all Start DCE. # /etc/rc.dce 14. You will now need to activate the server inside of OV. This step ONLY nees to be done if this is a new install of Openview. a. If the system is a HACMP cluster member, the command is as follows: # /usr/lpp/OV/OpC?/install/opcactivate s sunovo01.nc.us.bank-dns.com mode hacmp b. If the system is not a member of a HACMP cluster the command is as follows: # /usr/lpp/OV/OpC?/install/opcactivate s sunovo01.nc.us.bank-dns.com 17.
